proof of evolution - the changing face of highland-instinct
The Highland-Instinct you are currently looking at is not how the website has always looked. Since 2003 the website design has changed several times, and on this page we share with you a few key stages in its evolution.

Version 9
September 2006 - October 2009
On-line for over three years, 'Version 9' was our longest serving design to date. A huge amount of design work and scripting went into this one and its various features, which I am sure aided its longevity. The main aim behind it was to reinvent the website and what it could offer people.

Version 8
November 2005 - September 2006
A shift towards there being more focus on the graphic and photographic elements, and a complete lack of front page write-ups. The independent snow/weather reports were present to begin with, but were later removed. There was a very conscious shift away from that aspect of the site, even though it was once so important to our purpose.

Version 7
September 2004 - November 2005
This one took a lot of maintaining and up-keep. At least 2 hours were spent every day (seven days a week) updating the front page, snow reports and weather reports throughout the winter months. A completely thankless task, and definitely brought to a head my disillusionment with providing that independent service!

Version 5
April 2004 - August 2004
The first proper attempt at being experimental with the design and trying something a little bit different.
Unfortunately I got bored of this layout before the winter arrived, and Version 6 which followed was pants (it lasted a month) so I regret being so hasty in removing V.5!

Version 1
May 2003
The one that started it all. This was the very first website I ever built, created as an experiment on a quiet Saturday afternoon.
This simple design set the theme for Highland-Instinct and our first year of activity.
