Ski tour up Lochnagar with Hugo and Colin. Good weather, but with a thin layer of cloud coming and going around the summit.
Started at the pay 'n' display carpark at the end of Loch Muick, and were able to put the skins on at the far side of the forest. Skinned cross-country over towards Cuidhe Crom, where we then skirted around the cliff edge and on to the summit.
Descended by the Black Spout Left Branch (I). While it didn't have a cornice it was very firm overall, but with the occasional pocket of powder. Important lesson - always ascend a gully before you attempt a descent! Lucky our ski edges were sharp.
Skirted above the loch, with a short hike back up to the col. Enjoyed a nice meandering run of several miles back down to the forest, where the snow had a nice consistency.
Good day all in, and great to be out stretching the legs a bit.
