With a relatively poor forecast coupled with a high avalanche risk, we opted to stay away from the resorts and bigger hills in favour of a low-level ski tour in the northern Campsie Fells, Central Scotland. Turned out to be a good option - despite never getting above 475m in altitude there was still plenty of snow.
Some exciting skiing in one of the north facing corries, with plenty of interesting lines and drops on offer. Put in what we believe to be a couple of first descents, one of which we called "Sheep Drop Gully" - for reasons that will become obvious...
Managed to ski back to within 30m of the car (70m asl), though admittedly it was total combat latterly: increasingly thin cover and electric fences!
